Yahoo! Labs Bangalore is a part of Yahoo! India R&D, with a mission of bringing cutting-edge science to Yahoo!'s broad range of Internet products and services. At Yahoo! Labs, we are focusing on basic and applied research in the key areas of next-generation search, advertizing, and large-scale computing systems.

The Audience and Search Sciences Director at Yahoo! Labs will be responsible for delivering the next generation of Web and Search technologies and products. He/she will be expected to define the Audience and Search sciences roadmap for the Bangalore lab, launch and execute impactful projects in the Web and Search domain, oversee the development of system prototypes, and work closely with product units to transfer technology. He/she will be responsible for recruiting top-notch scientific talent into the lab, and creating an environment that promotes innovation, patents, and publications in top-tier conferences and journals.

Skills

Required skills/qualifications for the Audience and Search Sciences Director position include:

* A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field.

* 10+ years of work experience in the software domain, previous experience developing Web and Search technology at Internet-scale.

* Good knowledge of technical areas related to search like information retrieval, machine learning, data mining, graph algorithms, database systems, large-scale computing, etc.

* Publications in leading conferences and journals in one or more of the above fields.

* Ability to manage highly technical teams, collaborate across organizational boundaries, and transfer technology.

* Ability to define new projects that will impact the business, and execute them according to specific timelines.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* This position is based in Bangalore, India
