Job Description

• You will help define and drive the design of platforms, applications and tools to power the next generation experience for consumers on Yahoo!'s Media Properties (e.g., Finance).
• You will help build backend technologies to enable rapid innovation of fun and engaging products for Yahoo! consumers. This will include scalable frameworks and tools to acquire, process, enhance, store, syndicate, publish, distribute and present content from partners and end users.
• Aspects of technology you will work with include XML, RDF, Web Services, OOAD, Database Design, API design, Performance Engineering, Security, Extreme Scalability, Processing Frameworks, Rich Media, Scalable distribution, etc.
• Your job will entail guiding & mentoring a development team with sound design, and working with leads & architects across geographies to insure interoperability and maximize reuse. You will be expected to take a hands-on approach. A key success factor will be the ability to produce or consume platforms with widespread reuse and impact.
• You will be expected to publish technical articles with PR value
• You will be expected to understand business needs and priorities of your unit and to cross-pollinate best practices, technologies and leverage/create common software platforms
• You will be expected to contribute to the Yahoo! Patent Portfolio

Skills

• BE/B.Tech/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years experience
• 5+ years experience with Large Scale architectures
• Strong hands-on experience with Web technologies, Web standards & protocols, Languages (some of C / C++ / Java / Perl /PHP), Methodologies (OOD)
• Experience in Production Web systems characterized by high-end performance, reliability, availability, scalability, security
• In Depth knowledge in one or more of these fields: Databases / Networking / OS / Distributed Computing / Grid Computing / Web Services
